The unnamed narrator is only known to us by his nickname: Fuckhead. Though it's a quarter of the thickness of his sprawling Vietnam novel Tree of Smoke, it still packs just as much punch. Told through a train wreck of regret and longing, the stories in Jesus' Son unapologetically expose the malignancies of the human heart. JESUS' SON was recommended to me as the perfect tryout book for Johnson's literature.
